Vacation Style: Outfit Ideas for Mexico
I am finally getting around to sharing some of my vacation looks from Mexico! To be honest, I spent much of my days in swimwear and cutoff shorts but showering off the salt water, letting my hair air dry and walking down the cobblestone streets to dinner was one of my favorite parts of the day. I loved having pretty pieces to take me into the evening, even if it was just for tacos and a bucket of beer.
Denim shorts are obviously a must for warm weather and a Mexico vacation is no exception. I know people have a hard time finding their holy grail cutoff shorts that don't ride up or show too much and these high-rise One Teaspoon shorts are just that for me. Sizing note: Do size UP!
I ended up buying several dresses from Princess Polly and I was so impressed with the fit and quality. They came with express shipping from Australia to the US and for the few pieces I had to return, I was able to do so with ease.
I loved this golden mini dress and it has the sweetest, most feminine fit. The spaghetti straps look great with a tan and the knotted bust gave me room for adjustments. Sizing note: I sized UP to a AUS 10 in my Princess Polly pieces.
I also ADORE these white slide sandals, as I noted in several of the posts I shared on Instagram. They have the most comfortable fit and the white went with everything. I had zero issues walking around in them all day.
Another favorite Princess Polly piece was this little white wrap dress. Again, I sized up to the AUS 10 and I loved the flattering silhouette and hints of skin. The back also ties into a bow and I love a back flaunt.
My beach and pool-wear was easy, effortless and appropriate for sunbathing, swimming and lounging. These Aerie bandeau tops in black and white were easy to throw on for minimal tan lines and I loved the sporty yet feminine feel of this knotted triangle top. SO on-trend yet the black keeps it classic. They also have amazing prices.
Random beauty note—I also completely fell in love with this Nyx Wonder Stick for highlighting and contouring. It was so easy to use on no-makeup, pool days for a little something extra.
I brought three maxi dresses with me on this trip because they're my favorite for throwing on when you want to feel effortless yet put together in an instant. Bonus points for letting your sunburns and bug bites have some coverage—ha!
I got so many compliments on this gingham maxi dress and I ADORE the relaxed fit of this cream one by Somedays Loving. I definitely recommend bringing an effortless cotton maxi dress in any color. They're perfect for throwing on to head to the pool or dressed up for dinner.
Another favorite I wasn't able to snag a photo of was this Billabong ruffle maxi dress in cream.
Skirt separates are a favorite outfit combo of mine, so I made sure to bring a couple options. Wrap skirts are so flattering and are something you can easily throw on with a comfy tank or tee and you can't go wrong with a classic denim number. I love the embroidery on this one from Topshop.
If you have a vacation coming up, I'd love to hear what you love wearing! Is it dresses, shorts or skirts?
As always, thank you for reading!
