2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases
The 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public tomorrow, August 19th, and I wanted to share a quick roundup of my own purchases for anyone shopping. I was quite selective this year and really didn’t buy much, as I feel I’ve utilized past sales and shopping habits to build up my wardrobe to a place I feel good about. I don’t view sales as a time to buy whatever I want. I browse with intention, opting for items that fill a void or offer a high-quality replacement to something in my closet. I personally love it when I can purchase something on sale from a designer brand I admire and respect and tend to opt for wardrobe staples. With that being said, here’s what I bought from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. So far, I’ve only received the Vince tee, so it’s the only one I can comment on related to fit but I will be sure to update this post when I receive the others!
Slide Sandal. Admittedly, I’ve heard mixed reviews about shoe quality this year but wanted to give these a try. I’m a big fan of slides in any fashion (slide sandals, slide sneakers, all of them) and was excited to see this style included in the sale. I was initially drawn to the tortoiseshell but I’ve also been eying acrylic sandals for a while and thought this would be a great opportunity to try them. They’re unlike anything I have in my collection and I think styled well will look chic with dresses + summer and vacation looks. (When we can go on vacation again.)
*Update: these arrived today and for under $50 I’m pleasantly surprised! I always love a low-heeled sandal and can see the value in both colors. The clear acrylic will truly go with everything (from denim to dresses and special events) and I like how the tortoise has a classic-chic feel. Both are perfect for everyday, dressing up or vacation! I’m between sizes (8 and 8.5) and went with the 8.5 and they fit perfectly. If it helps I wear an 8 in Nike and an 8.5 in other brands like Madewell and Everlane.
2. Striped Tee. I saw this tee and instantly knew it would be a wardrobe staple. I usually love shopping the sale by “brand” and I Iove this classic-effortless luxury brand, Vince. I already received this and wore it immediately. It’s incredibly soft & lightweight and I love the elbow-length sleeves. I went with an xs, which is my normal size, and it fits well. Slightly tight, if anything, and I probably could have also done a small. It has a nice length but I tucked it into my bra for a DIY crop top with this summer look. Will definitely be layering this under cardigans into fall!
3. Coverlet. I loved a lot of things from the home department this year. This coverlet topped the list. We usually use a linen duvet cover for our comforter but I was drawn to the idea of not having to stuff/unstuff this one—it just lays on top. It’s supposed to be lightweight and I love the airy look.
*Update: this also arrived and I’m very happy with it! It’s incredibly soft, lightweight and just drapes over our comforter underneath. I like how much extra length it has on each edge of the bed, as well.
4. Straight Leg Jeans. I have many jeans I love but fewer styles I’d truly refer to as straight leg. I’m hoping these will pair well with booties this fall and winter season & be an effortless, comfy staple. I sized down one size in these, so we’ll see how they go!
