A Few Classic Things I Bought from 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access
I shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access this weekend and wanted to share a few of the pieces I’ve picked up from the sale so far! I personally prefer shopping online and using in-store or curbside pickup, so I was able to grab some of the items last Friday and a few more came today, which I’ll be sure to share details for, as well!
If you’ve been following along on Instagram or with previous blog posts, you know I prefer to keep my NSALE purchases classic and essential to my closet (see 12 Casual Chic #Nsale Staples, ideas for Classic #NSale Buys and more Early Access #Nsale Favorites) and that’s how I always recommend shopping the sale. Focusing on the pieces your wardrobe really needs, items that fill a void and pieces wearable across multiple seasons. The sale is a great opportunity to add key pieces to your closet but ask yourself this: Do I want to wear this now? Am I still going to want to wear this come fall?

These are the first few pieces that personally made the cut for me and I’m styling them with items I already have in my closet! I’ll be sure to continue sharing items as they come and I can’t wait for my denim to get here, so I can narrow down my favorites for you.
Hands-down my favorite #nsale purchase so far is this Topshop Satin Button-Up Blouse. I have tons of white or off-white tops yet I find I lack more classic blouses. No ruffles, no eyelet, no frills, just classic. I love how this one can go from work to casual to date night so seamlessly and it has the most effortless, relaxed fit. To be clear, this is NOT an actual pajama top but it is pajama-inspired. I love how this particular one mostly mimics the effortless nature of a pajama top while the ivory color keeps it oh-so-chic (and appropriate) for everyday wear outside the bedroom. On the site, it says it’s “dreamy” and I totally agree! It’s a great price $45.90 and also comes in a soft, baby blue tone.
Topshop sizing can be a bit tricky but I went with the US 2 which says it fits like a US 0 or xs, which is my usual size in blouses and tops. I can even be an xxs or 00 in brands like J.Crew. So, I would say it’s true to size because it has the exact slightly relaxed fit it’s supposed to.
I put it on first thing when I bought it and immediately wore it for a casual day turned date night paired with denim shorts but also tried it on with these Everlane white pants for something office-appropriate and it looks sleek and chic. Both of these looks are paired another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchase—these Cole Haan flats.
Cole Haan is one of my favorite designer brands for comfort and this is not my first #nsale purchase of this brand. These Ramsey Flats feature contoured, supportive cushioning and the pointed toe offers a lengthening look down the leg line. I love nude flats for every season in California and am always looking for the most comfortable pairs. I love how they almost mimic a slingback and have a subtle gold detail. These will look sleek and chic with everything in your closet—even denim shorts!
In terms of sizing, the site says true to size but I’m in between sizes and have always noticed Cole Haan runs large. I’m normally between an 8 and 8.5 and went with the 8.5 in these and they fit perfectly. I’ve only worn them with minor walking around an outdoor shopping plaza but, so far, I haven’t had any issues with blistering or breaking in.
I also picked up this Leith Rib Wrap Sweater thinking it would be a bit more relaxed than it really is. I’m normally an xs and went with the small hoping it would give a bit more room but it’s still pretty fitted. While it’s not completely as I hoped it would be, I decided it’s still a nice addition to my wardrobe. I love the effortless, relaxed vibe the grey tone offers and the wrap silhouette mixes up my usual long-sleeve pullover knits and and tees.
I think it’s a great staple and also comes in black, blush and olive! It’s a great price at just $31.90.
Lastly, one of my favorite categories to take advantage of during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is cardigans because I truly wear them year-round. Even in the summer months waking up and taking the dogs out, to work in the A/C to cozying up on the couch, I just love them and my personal favorite style is the duster cardigan. I think the longer length is more flattering and effortless and is a sleeker, chicer option over a traditional style or boyfriend cardigan.
Last year, I snagged a grey duster cardigan and wear it constantly, so this year I decided to go with this Leith Longline Cardigan in beige oatmeal. This one is $45.90 and, for sizing reference, I’m 5’6” and am wearing the size xs which fits great and is true to size. I think there’s a bit of room to play with sizing based on your preference. Size up if you want it extra cozy, relaxed and easy to layer or down if you want it to be more fitted.
I noticed a couple reviews saying it’s a little itchy and I’m fairly sensitive to texture and to me his one is soft and not scratchy at all.
I wore it with this BP. Lace Trim Satin Camisole in white which is currently out of stock but I’ll be sure to share if and when I see it come back!
As always, thank you so much for reading and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
