The Slip Dress
100° heat waves have begun around here and while we’ve had a bit of reprieve this week, more hot days are undoubtedly on the horizon. My style approach to hot summer days is a less is more motto, which is why I’m such a fan of the slip dress.
Easy to throw on and go, they require minimal effort yet offer maximum return. I swear we’re talking about style.
I love all sorts of summer dresses from little white dresses to flirty florals, yet I think a slip dress might be the most classic of them all and offer the most versatility. The simple silhouette makes them easy to layer, topping with sweaters and jackets, to truly take them through every season. They’re not at all fussy, feel like pajamas and you can really dress them up in or down with ease. Try one in a classic color like black and they’re really quite timeless in my opinion.
For our true 104-degree day last week, it was all I could muster to toss on for a few quick errands around town. Keep it casual with slide sandals and a crochet or straw bag.
Slip Dress Tip:
I had someone ask about wearing a slip dress in the true summer heat (aka sweat) and I recommend looking for a style that’s lined or more of a non-silk or satin blend.
