JENNI KAYNE SIZING NOTES
I typically wear an xs/small across most brands (sometimes an xxs in brands like J.Crew and Madewell) and a size 25 in jeans. I’m 5’6” with an average torso and more length in my legs.
Jenni Kayne sizing can be tricky and it’s not something I have 100% down but I do think there’s room to play depending on fit preference. Generally speaking, many of her pieces run big or have an intended oversized effect. If you want something to fit slightly closer to the body, I suggest sizing down. If you prefer a relaxed fit or the fit on the model, take your usual size. If an item looks more fitted on the model and you’d prefer a more relaxed fit, size up. I also always look to the reviews for sizing cues.
Chloe Crewneck in Black Stripe
I have this in my usual size xs. I would refer to this as more on the “boxy” side. This has a slightly cropped fit (sits higher at the hips) and wider shaper. I think it’s true to size but, if anything, I would have preferred to size up a size or two for a more intentional oversized fit and perhaps a little more length.
Cody Cardigan in Bone
This might be my current favorite Jenni Kayne cardigan and it’s such a great option for spring. I have this in my usual size xs and do prefer the fit to the cashmere cocoon cardigan. It’s still oversized but I think because of the fabric/weight, it hangs a little closer to the body. To me, it has slightly more shape. It’s more of an open-knit which feels appropriate for the warmer season. I also like that it’s not “fuzzy” in texture like the cashmere cocoon. Great for my current season of life with baby fingers. 🙃 And I love the pockets. I wear this with lounge pants and can see it over shorts through summer. Such a good one!
CASHMERE COCOON CARDIGAN in Ivory and Russet
I have this in two colors and two sizes. I have the Ivory in my usual size xs. I have the Russet in a size down, xxs. I like both but prefer the xxs. They both run oversized but the xxs is a bit less roomy through the arms on me. I’ve heard of people also sizing up for more of an oversized “coat” effect.
Note this style took me through pregnancy! I love the longer length, how you can wear it multiple ways—buttoned or unbuttoned—and it layers beautifully over tees and dresses.
Marina Culottes and Pullover
Another current favorite! This is a forever set to me & feels like it’s the epitome of luxe loungewear. So chic. I have my usual size (xs) in both pieces. I would say they both err slightly on the larger side, more-so the pullover—it’s pretty oversized. But together they just have that effortless fit and feel. I would go with usual size in both pieces but maybe, if anything, size down?
EVERYDAY SWEATER in Taupe
This is one item I sized up in. I have the Ivory and Taupe in a size small because I could tell it runs a little shorter in length and I knew I wanted a slightly more oversized/relaxed fit.
BOUCLE COCOON CARDIGAN in Smoke
I also sized up to a small in this cardigan honestly sort of as an experiment. I wanted to see if it would have more of a coat-like effect and it does. Left buttoned, it’s definitely baggy and oversized but sooo cozy and comfy.
OVERSIZED CREWNECK in Cream
I sized down to an xxs in this and it’s slightly relaxed on me, even with my baby bump! Size down for more fitted but, in my opinion, I could have easily done an xs for a roomier fit or sized up to a small for a true oversized fit. I love this one though and I would say it’s a great option if you’re looking for a classic crewneck.
SATURDAY SWEATPANT AND SATURDAY SWEATSHIRT in Oatmeal
Love love these. I took my usual size xs and they still worked with my bump while I was pregnant, though the sweatshirt ran a little short. If anything and in hindsight, I would have sized up to a small in both for a roomier and more relaxed fit, even now post-pregnancy. Note I’m 5’6” (longer legs) and I would prefer a bit more length. I usually like a 27” or 28” inseam for ankle length.
A few more non-sweater favorites include the Riviera Slip Dress (seen here) and the Alpaca Basketweave Pillow (sooo so good and crazy soft!).
