Nude Cami with White Pants and Denim Jacket
If you follow me on Instagram (or read my blog), it’s definitely no secret that my go-to outfit formula is blue jeans + white top + XYZ shoe and done. ✔️And as we head into fall, I tend to keep this formula but with one minor twist added into the outfit rotation. I’ll sometimes swap the blue jeans for white or black denim to make layering with a denim jacket a breeze. 😎Is this a mind blowing outfit? No. Does it make you look and feel chic as hell? Definitely.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a good Canadian Tuxedo (i.e. denim on denim look) but there’s something so chic about a denim jacket paired with white pants and something innately “cool” about a denim jacket worn with black jeans. Visual in this post! It’s truly one of those “I have nothing to wear” formulas that works…and if it ain’t broke…
For this summer-to-fall look, I chose white pants, pairing my favorite Everlane straight leg pants with this And Other Stories nude cami and then threw a denim jacket into the mix as an easy layer. I love how the pants and pointed toe Cole Haan flats elevate the outfit just slightly but you could just as easily try skinny jeans and white sneakers for something ultra-casual. Coming from someone who’s typically a ‘skinny jeans only’ type of person, these pants have become my absolute favorite flattering straight leg style. They still have plenty of structure and I love the ultra-high rise and subtle flare. I found these run a little big. I’m normally a size 25 or 0 in denim and had to go with the 00 in these.
And a tiny tip for making any out feel more chic than casual on the casual-chic spectrum—or even from heading into sloppy territory? Your neckline! It would be so easy to reach for your favorite relaxed tee here but…! Instead of the lived-in, v-neck style you always reach for, try one with a crewneck or square neck. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good relaxed, comfy tee but anything that droops or gapes or just hangs there can so easily read as sloppy. If you opt for styles with a bit more shape (whether it’s in fabric or neck line or both) there’s an added element of structure that I promise will make you feel just as comfortable—and ten times chicer. 👏🏼
For reference, I’m wearing a US 2 in this nude camisole and it runs true to size.
What’s your go-to outfit formula as we head into fall? Do you have one?
As always, thank you so much for reading!
