Ask a lot of people their opinion on a fanny pack and their mind might immediately go to something neon and 80’s style or velcro and meant for travel only. But the truth is, today, fanny packs have really evolved into a chic and stylish accessory, more lovingly referred to as: the belt bag.

A belt bag is not only a unique statement piece that can turn heads but it’s also a practical style, allowing you to be hands-free. Great for travel and would be a wonderful accessory option for mom life. Think walks, trips to the zoo, bike rides and really just daily life. Keep in mind, you can still wear a belt bag slung over your head and shoulder.

This & Other Stories O-Ring belt bag is my first foray into the style but it’s something I chose with a lot of intention. I chose black because it’s timeless and can cover both day and night. I chose snakeskin embossed leather because it gives just enough edge to make an intentional statement. And the O-Ring because it adds the finishing touch. Basically, this belt bag has the perfect amount of detail so it doesn’t fall flat. And it really adds a chic flair in an instant.

A belt bag can really help pull a look together and can truly be the perfect finishing touch to elevate a basic outfit. Grab your everyday go-to combination (mine is always jeans and a tee) and try a full or half tuck. I have personally been loving and living in these H&M jersey tops (only $14.99) and they have a comfy, flattering fit that’s not at all messy. They tuck really well but also sort of hold you in. The black on black in this look gives a monochromatic touch that works well for both day and night but you could just as easily top with a brown suede jacket like this one or add an olive cargo jacket (like the one from this post) and sneakers to keep things extra casual.

As we head into spring and summer, belt bags can work incredibly well belted around t-shirt and flirty dresses to add a bit of shape. I personally can’t wait to wear mine with a little white dress but the options are truly endless.
