A Casual Chic Way to Wear a Turtleneck Sweater
While turtleneck sweaters can sometimes get a bad rap for being overly stuffy, tight or constricted, there’s something about the style that feels instantly chic and sophisticated, especially in a classic and neutral tone like black, grey or navy. I recently received this cashmere turtleneck sweater from Everlane in navy blue and it’s the epitome of classic. With a slightly relaxed fit and timeless silhouette, the styling options are endless but I added a few edgier touches to keep it feeling casual-chic.
These Levi’s wedgie jeans have been one of my favorite casual-chic bases to reach for no matter the season. They have the perfect amount of subtle distressing at the hem—and no actual holes!—making them wearable across the colder months. I threw them on to instantly dress down this turtleneck sweater. At first, I added a camel coat for something classic but it took on a preppy feel (which is fine—it would be a great option for the holidays!) but adding a touch of faux leather felt more appropriate for a casual weekend look. I swapped out the camel coat for my trusted faux leather moto jacket (this one is BlankNYC a few years old) and it added just the right amount of edge.
I personally love the way black, brown and navy play together but you could wear this look with a grey or black turtleneck sweater sitting in your closet, as well! A pair of Keds white sneakers kept the look ultra-casual or try slipping into a pair of black or tan booties to take you through winter.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read!
