Boot season is in full force--well, not quite yet in California with our 80 degree fall days--BUT, I'm still pretending boot season is in full force. I tend to gravitate towards ankle boots for their ease with any look, but honestly every girl needs a classic riding boot (or two i.e. black AND brown!) in their shoe collection.

I love the look of riding boots (or any boot!) paired with skinny jeans and dresses, but have always had a problem with extreme gapping around my calf. If you have slim legs I'm sure you can relate. I tend to find a pair of boots I love from the front and then when turned to the side there's a massive gap that makes it look like I'm swimming in them and, honestly, it's just not flattering. But I still buy them! Because...every girl needs a pair of riding boots. BUT...Never have I ever had a pair that fits snugly around my calf.

I know a lot of people love the Stuart Weitzman 50/50 for their stretch, but honestly I'm not one to spend $650+ on a pair of boots. Call me crazy. Or cheap. I don't care. I recently found Skinnycalf Boots and they're truly the first pair that has ever fit my calves snugly. At their $379 price point, they're a steal for leather boots that are made in Italy and hello...that ACTUALLY FIT!

Seriously, I was shocked putting them on. You can see how close of a fit they have to my calves in a dress, so paired with jeans or leggings they have that perfect streamlined look that is kind of essential, and I'm now realizing, was previously severely lacking in my current boot collection. Having a three inch gap at the back of my boots was kind of not cute.

I really do love my skinny calves and and now my skinny calves love their Skinnycalf Boots. They also have several styles to fit your skinny calf needs, including a suede boot (in black and olive) with a stacked heel that would be gorgeous dressed up or down, and a suede boot with a wedge and shearling lining (in navy and olive) that would be perfect for extra warmth this winter.

I ended up going with the riding boot (aka the Rider) and I couldn't be happier. The black is classic, timeless, and chic and I have my eye on the cognac, as well, because it's also timeless and chic, but gives a totally different look and like I said--every girl needs a classic riding boot or two. If you've always had boot gapping problems like me I'd definitely recommend giving them a try.
